Wrapped Handle
Where can I find a kit for my husband to make a leather-wrapped handle a hunting knife?

My husband wants to adjust a knife old game that had belonged to his father. I've looked on the web but nothing for leather, wood or bone only …

I've been making and restoring the knives most of the 25 years and I must say, I have yet to see a real "leather bound" control over a knife. What most people refer to as "leather-wrapped" is actually composed of a stacked leather disks dozen leather. Tell your husband to head to eBay and search for "leather" tool and receives about one square meter or so. It's not expensive. Then you'll use one of the original spacers (hard leather) as a pattern and hand cut each one with an Xacto knife. Simply cut inside to match the old leather or knife …. make an approximate outside. Once you have stacked thick enough, use a Dremel or a sanding block to shape the exterior of the disks below. use the finest sand and finer as if he were making the wood and end with some wax.
