Is it possible that an old wall air conditioner could have asbestos inside it?

I live in an apartment that comes with an air conditioner very old. When I opened the front panel, I discovered that there is a blackish gray brittle material used as installation around the inside edge. I do not know what age, but it reminds me of asbestos. I do not know exactly what seems to asbestos, so I was wondering if anyone knows if this is what it is or if it's just another harmless material. I do not trust the apartment manager who has followed the proper safety standards and remove asbestos from the property. Give me a shout if you know the answer.

i dont Think this sounds like asbestos insulation than normal in almost every window and wall Thrun and evaporator units … AC asbestos was banned in the seventies usuage … Most asbestos used is the heat or AC is a whitish or grayish color and very easy to break … havent seen any action or asbestos in the furnace of fact after 1975
