Why is my Randall Model 1 knife blade longer than 8 inches?

My Randall Model 1 knife blade is 8 and 3 / 16 inches long. Also has a lower "s" pattern, a deer curved handle and finger grooves. It features nickel silver hilt. Why is my knife with a blade longer than the standard 8-inch blade?

and although I am not familliar with the knife, I would have to say that many times a manufacturer gives an estimated duration leaf, is easier said than 8-inch blade … 8 and 3 / 16 inches. and Theres really no functional difference … if I mistake not, as its kabars .. that are technically 7/8th inch and 6 .. although most people just refer to them as 7-inch sheets
